Next Generation Technologies for Battery Systems in transport electrification

The NEXTBAT project aims to develop next-generation battery systems that are safer, more efficient, and more sustainable for transport and mobile applications. It focuses on improving battery performance, lifespan, and safety by using new materials, better cooling systems, and advanced battery management technologies. The project also works on reducing production costs, increasing recyclability, and lowering the carbon footprint. Using digital tools, simulations, and innovative designs, NEXTBAT will help create high-performance batteries that can be used in cars, planes, ships, trains, and industrial machines, supporting Europe’s transition to cleaner energy and electrified transport.

Within NEXTBAT, PTG focuses on developing high-fidelity simulations of battery systems using the Alya code for addressing two key challenges: immersion cooling and thermal runaway
