New publication on partially-premixed combustion modeling
We are pleased to share a recent publication from the Propulsion Technologies Group (PTG) in the journal Combustion and Flame on partially-premixed modeling of flames with tabulated chemistry methods.
In this work, performed in collaboration with Rühr-Universität Bochum and ENSMA-Poitiers, the authors present an innovative method to distinguish between different combustion regimes using a flame index derived from conventional one-dimensional flamelet manifolds.
Using high-fidelity numerical simulations, the team demonstrates how a cross-dissipation-based flame index can improve combustion characterisation, an important step towards better predictive models for cleaner combustion, lower emissions and more efficient industrial systems.
The final published version can be accessed free of charge via the following link until May 05, 2026.
This research helps advance the tools needed to optimise engines, turbines and energy processes where performing reliable combustion combustion simulations with reduced computational cost is essential.
